History should never be forgotten! 

Violence against women 
    is very real — sexual 
         violations rage against
   a masqued guise 

       Recently brought 
           to my attention... 
    
  “#” = pound 
 fast forward decades 
        “#” = hashtag 

History plays no role 
    reducing life to pain 
          a subject ensconced 
    with such severity could 
damage so many women 

   Women who never left
      and were murdered
  
     Women who took that slap
         constantly ending up on the floor 
            curdled up in a ball 
      in a puddle of tears
 
  Women who time and time again 
 froze as they are penetrated 
       against their will. 

In life all we have is our identity 
    our ability to be resilient 
   and manifest our lives
          into that of a newly 
    hatched Phoenix.
