You know, one would think having six female writers, as the main scribes of a press, may house writing styles that would collide. Nevertheless, they don\’t, we are like minded indeed but, each one of my girls houses specific characteristics that make them all genuinely unique. I love Sonja\’s minimalist approach to poetry — no words are wasted as the architect of her own versification. I tend most of the time to be a tad bit wordy, that\’s so not Sonja. Sonja\’s ability to stitch words together always leaves me in awe, as her pieces tend to be soulful, kind, and incredibly riddled with power.
Elevate me to
wilderness and waterfalls.
Nature I applaud.
Calming clarity.
Uncontained. Unrestrained. Free.
Born to roam the earth.
Rambunctious

ricochets
off limbs
playful
rumbles
of laughter
storm lights
flicker
flirty eyelids
flutter
rainy
evening air
exudes
earthy musk
amplified heart
pumps
pounds
keeps time
with sudden
downpour.
Excerpt from Parade of Blooms
Daffodils, earth’s trumpets
announcing arrival of spring
Purple crocus breaks free
from earth’s snow-laden crust,
reaching for sun’s warm touch
Tulip petals cupped like palms
adorned with fresh dew
Lush ivy and pinwheel vinca
creeps along fence edge
Sweet scent of hyacinth
and pale pink magnolia
circulates in the breeze
